Personal Care Assistance

Compassionate Personal Care Assistance for Seniors

At Magnolia Senior Care, our caregivers provide personalized assistance with everyday activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, transfers, and daily routines. We tailor support to each resident's assessed needs, abilities, preferences, and negotiated care plan, emphasizing dignity, comfort, safety, and independence whenever possible.

How it works

What families can expect.

Assessment

It starts with understanding the resident

Before move-in, the home reviews the resident's assessment, abilities, routines, and preferences: what they can do on their own, where they need cueing, and where they need hands-on help.

Care plan

A negotiated care plan guides each day

In Washington, each Adult Family Home resident has a negotiated care plan developed with the resident and their representative. It spells out what help is needed, how it is given, and the resident's preferences, so every caregiver works from the same plan.

Daily help

Assistance with everyday activities

Bathing and showering, dressing, grooming and oral care, toileting and continence care, eating, walking, and transfers, including mechanical lift transfers when the care plan calls for them.

Independence

Doing with, not for

Caregivers encourage residents to do as much as they safely can, offering reminders or stand-by help before stepping in.

Changing needs

Plans are updated as needs change

When a resident's abilities change, the care plan is reviewed and updated with the resident and family. RN-guided care planning helps the team notice when a review is needed.

RN-Led Clinical Excellence + Family-Centered Care

The role of RN oversight

Sosena Mekuria, RN, guides care planning so caregivers know what help is needed and how to give it safely. Registered Nurse visits are scheduled according to resident needs and each home's care arrangements. Trained caregivers provide 24-hour resident support, and Magnolia does not provide 24-hour on-site nursing.

Limits and fit

Some support, such as awake overnight care, dedicated one-on-one support, or two-caregiver assistance, may be available for an additional fee, as described in each home's Disclosure of Services. Each home can only provide care it can safely deliver given the needs of residents already in the home.
